The following environmental policies have been introduced and promoted throughout the entire corporation after having been approved by CSAC’s high-ranking executives:

By means of continuous employee education and training as well as communication and auditing regarding the environment, all of the employees, contractors, upstream and downstream manufacturers have identified with the issue of environmental protection at CSAC, and the neighboring residents are also effectively influenced.09

We maintain good working surroundings by continuously implementing the 5S activity. 5S stands for “Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke,” which are five Japanese words representing the qualities of being well-arranged, well-organized, clean, tidy, and well-bred.10
To reduce overall environmental risks and to ensure its sustainable development, CSAC established its environmental management systems in 2001and was granted the certification of ISO 14001 by BVC in the same year. It is audited on site by BVC every year and complies with the ISO 14001 standards as well as the requirements for continuous improvements.
All the departments of CSAC actively carry out the identification of environment consideration to evaluate the degrees of environmental impact to reduce the load of the environment. Nonconformities and potential problems are discovered by regular internal auditing. Once they are found, related departments are notified to make improvements and preventive measures. Continuous improvements are made by conducting PDCA to ensure the consistency between environmental protection laws and regulation files so that the promotion of the environmental management systems is truly implemented.
